Construction of a new Engineering Building for the University of Adelaide commenced in 2007 with the demolition of an existing faculty building. The new $100m engineering building has eight stories and a below ground basement.

The basement foundation works included a 56m x 28m excavation to a depth of 6m. The construction of the retaining wall for the excavation and the foundation piles was assigned to the Piling Contractors Bauer Australia Joint Venture.
